Weeks 9/10 - Fantasies and Women Tell All
I missed last week, so I'm catching up a little bit here so bear with me. When last I wrote, we had been left with a cliffhanger where Madison pulled Peter aside before the Fantasy Suite dates. Picking up right there, Madison expressed to Peter that she would be uncomfortable with him sleeping with other women but did not specifically ask him not to and as far as I could tell did not disclose that she was saving herself for marriage (which would have helped emphasize her position). Peter actually did ask her point blank if she didn't want him to sleep with anyone else and she was super vague. But leaving that conversation Madison felt she had totally expressed what she needed to and obviously expected Peter not to sleep with anyone. Then of course she was the last date of the week so shit hit the fan. But we'll get to that.
First, the foursome made their way to Australia where all of the girls got the pleasure of staying in the same suite all week. Awkward. I heard Chris Harrison on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast talking about how they felt they needed to do this in order to press the issue that Madison and Peter weren't confronting. Well, mission accomplished. It was super weird. But also provided some good opportunities for the women to talk things through in front of the cameras.
Hannah Ann got the first date and this was legitimately the first time I feel like I could take her seriously as a contender. Everything was just super easy with them and she was so mature and understanding. So needless to say, things went well and they spent the night and then Hannah Ann came back to the house and had to tell the other girls how it went.
After that weirdness, Victoria took off on her date. Again, they had a good date. They talked about how they don't communicate well and then continued to not communicate but decided that it was somehow the best date they had had so far. Victoria also stayed the night with Peter. All while Madison is back at the house losing her mind.
Finally, Madison went on her date. The day part was great. They climbed to the top of this really high building and had a classic, romantic Bachelor date. Then on the dinner portion, Madison fully expressed herself and shared that she was a virgin. Peter was honest and told her that he had "been intimate" with the other girls. And Madison was legit pissed. She had to leave the table and just paced around trying to collect herself. Honestly, if I were in her position, I would have been upset too. She obviously thought she had told him that if he slept with someone else, he would lose her and then she was hurt to find out that he went ahead and did it anyway. However, I think that expectation of him was a little naive and unfair to put on him without all the information.
It was seriously one of the most uncomfortable things to watch. Maybe not quite as awkward as Arie dumping Becca for the cameras but up there. So then Madison leaves and we have no idea what's going on. Did she leave, leave? Is she just thinking things through? Seriously no idea. And that's where they left off last week.
This week, before they kicked off the Women Tell All, they concluded the Fantasy Suite week. Madison finally showed up to the rose ceremony after leaving Peter and the girls hanging for a while. She seemingly reluctantly accepted the rose that Peter offered. For real, this is how it went down:
Peter: Madison? Will you accept this rose?
Madison: [pause] Yeah.
Peter: You're sure?
Madison: Yeah.
Longest effing hug in front of the other two women ever.
At this point, Victoria knows she's going home, but Hannah Ann is also almost crying because she can clearly see how invested Peter is in Madison. So what the heck is she supposed to think going in to meet his family next week. And scene.
But wait, it's not over. Because then we had a couple hours of Women Tell All. Here are my main takeaways:
1. I'm still annoyed that Tasha and Kelly weren't invited. They were TOP 6. Where the hell are they?
2. Victoria F. didn't seem so terrible.
3. Most of the girls actually do seem to like each other. It's super nice to see that they made some lasting friendships. Most seasons this is a bigger part of the story but this season it just seemed like they all hated each other.
4. Tammy, you just need to say "Sorry, my bad" and then people will be over it. You're funny, don't let all this drama bring you down!
5. Victoria P. is still super annoying. Somehow, I ended up Team Alaya after all this. What???
6. I also really ended up liking Kelsey. Who would have expected? But my home town girl was one of the most real people the whole time and she seems to be who she is (other than passing off her neighbor's house as her own at hometowns). So good for her I guess.
7. Yes! People, stop being so mean on social media. These are real people. It is NEVER ok to tell someone they are worthless or that they should kill themselves. I'm glad the show brought this up. These girls do not deserve that.
Okay, last thing. Who is excited to have Clare Crawley back as The Bachelorette? I actually am. That girl cracks my shit up. And I really hope they bring back her talking to animals thing from Bachelor in Paradise. I hope we get to see more of her at After the Final Rose next week.
But before that we're sure to get a lot of drama from this "unspoilable" season. Apparently, not even Peter knows how it will turn out. Which leads me to believe he doesn't have the opportunity to propose to the one he wants to (Madison) and that he's going to try to get her back somehow. But really, can we even predict at this point? Everything has been twisted this season. I trust NOTHING the producers are serving me. We'll just have to wait and see next week!
